Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 2026 | Last Updated: March 2026

1. Overview of the Service

Sensible provides a parental monitoring platform designed to help parents and legal guardians understand and supervise their children's interactions with artificial intelligence chatbot services. The platform enables parents to view certain text-based interactions between their child and supported AI platforms and receive alerts regarding potentially concerning content.

The Service operates through two primary components: a browser extension installed on the child's device (available as a Chrome extension on desktop and a Safari Web Extension within the Sensible iOS app) and a parent dashboard accessible through the Sensible website. The browser extension captures certain text-based interactions between the child and supported AI chatbot platforms, while the parent dashboard allows the parent or legal guardian to review conversation summaries, alerts, and monitoring settings associated with the child's profile.

Sensible is intended to support parental awareness and oversight of a child's use of AI technologies. The Service is not intended to replace parental supervision or decision-making.

This Privacy Policy describes how Sensible collects, uses, stores, and protects information when parents and legal guardians use the Service. This includes information collected through the Sensible browser extension, parent dashboard, website, and related services.

The policy applies to information collected from parents who create accounts, as well as to information associated with child profiles monitored through the Service. Sensible is designed for use by parents and legal guardians and is not intended to be used directly by children.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use that information, how it may be shared with service providers, and the choices and rights available to parents regarding their data and their child's monitored activity.

2. Information We Collect

Sensible collects certain information to operate the parental monitoring service, allow parents to manage monitored devices, and generate alerts related to a child's interactions with supported AI platforms.

2.1 Parent Account Information

When a parent or legal guardian creates a Sensible account, we collect information necessary to establish and manage the account. This may include email address, encrypted password, account creation date, account identifiers, and basic account preferences or settings. This information is used to authenticate the parent, grant access to the parent dashboard, and manage the Service's monitoring features.

2.2 Child Profile Information

Parents may create one or more child profiles within the Service to associate monitored activity with a specific child. When a child profile is created, we may collect limited information, such as the child's name or nickname (as entered by the parent), the parent's selected monitoring preferences, and a unique device linking or pairing code used to connect a monitored device. Child profiles are created and managed solely by the parent or legal guardian through the parent dashboard.

2.3 Device Information

When the Sensible browser extension is installed and linked to a child profile, the Service may collect certain technical information about the device and browser environment. This may include browser type and version, operating system information, a randomly generated device token or identifier, and timestamps associated with device connection and activity. This information is used to link the monitored device to the parent's account and to manage monitoring functionality within the Service.

2.4 Conversation Data Captured by the Extension

When the browser extension is active on a monitored device, and the child interacts with supported AI chatbot platforms, the extension may capture certain text-based interactions. This may include text prompts entered by the child into the AI platform, text responses generated by the AI platform, the platform identifier (for example, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Character.AI, Perplexity, or Abby AI), conversation timestamps, and conversation session or thread identifiers. The Service is designed to capture text-based interactions with supported platforms. Other forms of content, such as images or media generated by those platforms, may not be captured.

2.5 Safety Analysis Data

The Service may automatically analyze captured conversation text using automated analysis tools to identify topics or patterns that may indicate potentially concerning behavior. As part of this process, the Service may generate and store information, including whether a conversation was flagged for review, a severity classification (for example, low, medium, high, or critical), categories of concern associated with the conversation, and a brief explanation of why the conversation was flagged. This information is used to generate alerts and provide parents with additional insight into their child's interactions with supported AI platforms.

3. How Information Is Collected

Sensible collects information through the operation of the Service, including the browser extension installed on a monitored device, the parent dashboard, and automated processing systems that support monitoring and alert functionality.

3.1 Browser Extension Capture Process

When the Sensible browser extension is installed on a monitored device and active on supported AI chatbot platforms, the extension may capture certain text-based interactions between the child and those platforms. This typically includes text prompts entered by the child and AI-generated responses. The extension is available for Google Chrome on desktop and as a Safari Web Extension on iOS devices.

The extension captures this information as part of the normal interaction flow within the browser environment and securely transmits it to Sensible's backend systems for processing and storage. The extension operates only on supported platforms and within the browser environment where it has been installed and linked to a parent account.

3.2 Device Linking Process

Before monitoring can begin, a parent must link the child's device to their Sensible account. Device linking occurs when the browser extension installed on the child's device is paired with a specific child profile using a unique linking code or authentication process provided through the parent dashboard.

Once a device is successfully linked, the Service associates activity captured from that device with the corresponding child profile and parent account. Parents can manage linked devices through the parent dashboard, including adding, revoking, or adjusting monitoring settings.

3.3 Automated Analysis Workflow

After conversation data is transmitted to Sensible's backend systems, certain interactions may be processed using automated analysis tools to identify topics or patterns that could indicate potentially concerning content.

This automated analysis may involve third-party processing tools that evaluate conversation text and generate classifications or alerts based on predefined criteria. The results of this analysis are used to generate notifications, summaries, or alerts that are displayed to the parent through the Service.

3.4 iOS App and Safari Web Extension

On iOS devices, Sensible is delivered as a native iOS application that contains a Safari Web Extension. The iOS app provides an onboarding experience where the parent installs the app on the child's device and links it to their parent account using a pairing code.

The iOS app stores a device token and child name in on-device shared storage (App Groups) to facilitate communication between the app and the Safari Web Extension. This information remains on the device and is used solely to authenticate the device with Sensible's backend services.

The Safari Web Extension captures the same text-based conversation data as the Chrome extension and transmits it to the same backend infrastructure. The iOS app does not collect location data, contacts, photos, health data, or any information beyond what is described in this Privacy Policy.

4. How We Use the Information

Sensible uses the information collected through the Service to operate the parental monitoring platform, provide insights into a child's interactions with supported AI platforms, and maintain the Service's functionality and security.

4.1 Parental Monitoring Dashboard

Information collected through the Service is used to provide parents and legal guardians with access to the parent dashboard. Through the dashboard, parents can review conversation summaries, view alerts, manage child profiles, and monitor linked devices associated with their account. The dashboard displays information that helps parents understand how their child interacts with supported AI platforms and allows them to manage monitoring settings and preferences.

4.2 Safety Alerts and Classifications

Conversation data may be analyzed to identify potentially concerning topics or behaviors. Based on this analysis, the Service may generate alerts, classifications, or summaries that highlight interactions that may require parental attention. These alerts and classifications are intended to help parents identify conversations that may involve sensitive topics or other potentially concerning content.

4.3 System Operations and Service Functionality

We also use collected information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service. This includes activities such as maintaining the technical functionality of the browser extension and the parent dashboard, managing linked devices and user accounts, detecting, preventing, and addressing technical issues and security concerns, and ensuring the Service's reliability and performance. Information may also be used for internal operational purposes such as troubleshooting, system maintenance, and improving the overall functionality of the Service.

5. Automated Analysis and AI Processing

5.1 Use of Automated Safety Classification

Sensible may use automated technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine-learning tools, to analyze certain text-based interactions captured through the Service. These tools evaluate conversation content to identify topics or patterns that may indicate potentially concerning behavior or sensitive subject matter.

As part of this process, conversation text may be processed to generate classifications, severity levels, topic labels, or alerts that are presented to parents through the parent dashboard. These classifications are intended to help parents better understand interactions between their child and supported AI platforms and to highlight conversations that may warrant further review. Automated analysis may involve processing conversation data through systems operated by Sensible or through trusted service providers that assist with safety classification functionality.

5.2 Limitations of AI Analysis

Automated analysis technologies are inherently imperfect and may not always produce accurate or complete results. AI-generated classifications or alerts may occasionally identify benign content as concerning (false positives) or may fail to detect certain types of content (false negatives).

Parents should not rely solely on automated alerts or classifications when evaluating their child's interactions. The Service is intended to support parental awareness and oversight, but it cannot guarantee that all harmful, inappropriate, or sensitive content will be identified. Sensible provides these tools as informational aids and encourages parents to use them as one part of broader parental supervision and communication with their child.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Sensible retains information only for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Conversation data captured through the Service, including conversation text, alerts, and related analysis data, is generally retained for a period of up to ninety (90) days. This retention period allows parents to review recent interactions and alerts through the parent dashboard. After this retention period expires, the associated conversation data is scheduled for deletion in accordance with our automated retention policies.

Sensible implements automated systems designed to regularly remove conversation data and related analysis records once they exceed the applicable retention period. These automated deletion processes help ensure that conversation data is not retained longer than necessary for the Service to operate. Deletion processes may run periodically and remove eligible records from the system once they reach the end of the retention window.

Parents may request deletion of their Sensible account at any time. When an account deletion request is processed, the parent account information, associated child profiles, and related monitoring data will be removed from Sensible's systems, subject to any limited retention required for legal, security, or operational purposes. Account deletion requests may be initiated through the Service interface or by contacting Sensible using the contact information provided in this Privacy Policy.

Parents may also delete individual child profiles from the parent dashboard. When a child profile is deleted, the associated monitoring records and conversation data linked to that profile are scheduled for removal from the system in accordance with the applicable retention and deletion processes. Deleting a child profile will also stop further monitoring activity associated with that profile.

7. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

Sensible does not sell personal information and does not share user data with third parties except as necessary to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, or protect the rights and safety of users and others.

7.1 Service Providers

Sensible relies on trusted third-party service providers to support the Service's operation. These providers process information on our behalf and are contractually required to use it only to provide services to Sensible, not for their own independent purposes. 7.3 Business Transfers

If Sensible is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, information associated with the Service may be transferred as part of that transaction. In such cases, Sensible will take reasonable steps to ensure that the transferred information continues to be protected in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy or will provide notice of any material changes to how the information is handled.

8. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance

Sensible is designed for use by parents and legal guardians to monitor their minor children's interactions with supported AI chatbot platforms. The Service is not intended to be used directly by children, and children do not create accounts or interact with the Service interface.

Sensible collects and processes information associated with a child's AI conversations only after a parent or legal guardian has created an account, established a child profile, and linked a monitored device to that profile. By completing these steps, the parent or legal guardian authorizes Sensible to collect and process certain information about the child's interactions with supported AI platforms to provide parental monitoring and safety alerts. Parents maintain control over the monitoring settings and may revoke monitoring access at any time by unlinking the device or deleting the child profile.

Sensible encourages parents to maintain transparency with their children regarding the use of monitoring tools. The Service may display a visual indicator or similar notice when monitoring functionality is active on a device where the browser extension is installed. Parents are responsible for informing their children that monitoring may occur and for ensuring that the Service is used in a manner consistent with applicable laws and family preferences.

Parents and legal guardians have control over the information associated with their child's monitored activity through the parent dashboard and related account settings. Depending on the functionality available within the Service, parents may:
